Class Details

COST: $250 -4 weeks (10 hours) plus the cost of the pattern and fabric for the project

SKILL LEVEL:This workshop is for Intermediate sewers upwards

Ever wanted to sew yourself a tailored shirt? But are intimidated by collars, cuffs and sleeve plackets and all the other tricky bits shirt seem to have?
Come join us for four weeks and you will gain all the skills needed to sew yourself a quality shirt.
This class focuses on all the techniques you need to get a professional result.
This class is ideal for confident sewers who have mastered the basics and are excited to dive into more advanced garment construction.
You have the choice of two patterns to make,
The Classic Shirt by Liesel & Co or the Jensen shirt by Wardrobe by me.

Please note this class is designed to be a more technique focused class, although we will do our best to get you a good fitting shirt, we will be concentrating more on the sewing and techniques rather than fit issues.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

• How to measure yourself to find the correct size for you

• How to trace & cut your pattern

• How to cut out your fabric

• How to sew your shirt

  • How to sew straight seams

  • Finishing seams

  • Construction of the tricker bits, eg; collars, sleeve plackets, cuffs etc..
    We will be doing a practise run of these before we sew them on out shirts

  • Hems

WHATS INCLUDED:

• A0 printing of your pattern

• All the supplies you need to do practise runs of the techniques we will practise first

• Fusing

• Use of sewing machines

• Use of tools & equipment

• Snacks and drinks to keep the energy levels up

YOU NEED TO PROVIDE:

• Pattern files for printing, either The Classic shirt or the Jensen Shirt

• Fabric for your project.

• Thread to match

• Buttons to match
